One of two petitions withdrawn to appoint special prosecutor to look into dismissal of Jussie Smollett charges

A former Cook County prosecutor has withdrawn his petition for a special prosecutor to investigate the surprise dismissal of charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, saying it would be redundant to pursue his request since a former state appellate judge filed similar paperwork.
