Foster family, grandmother remember 'superhero' AJ Freund's 'happy, fun-loving' times when he was a part of their lives

Family members of a 5-year-old boy from Crystal Lake who authorities said was beaten to death by his parents issued a statement Tuesday describing Andrew “AJ” Freund’s “happy, fun-loving life” before their contact with him was “abruptly” cut off by the parents.
