Fire kills Gary body shop owner

The owner of a Gary Midtown body shop owner died in a fire at his business early Wednesday.

The Lake County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Herman Kendrick, 65, of Gary. He was the owner of Herman’s Body Shop, 2179 Broadway. The coroner’s office said the cause of death was still pending.
