A Gary man was shot and killed near his home Sunday afternoon.
Deontre Borders, 22, of the 3700 block of Madison Avenue, was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m., according to a Lake County Coroner's Office release. The shooting occurred at 37th and Madison, the release said.
