An Illinois State trooper was killed in a crash on Interstate 74 while on patrol Wednesday about 25 miles northwest of Champaign, authorities said.
Trooper Ryan Albin died five and a half hours after he was injured in the crash, said Illinois State Police Director Leo P. Schmitz.
